7-Day Luxury Bhutan Tour Itinerary
Day 01 :
Arrival in Paro (2,250 m) – Thimphu (2,350 m)
Your 7-Day Luxury Bhutan journey starts the moment you land at Paro International Airport, where your guide and driver are already waiting. On a clear day, the flight in gives you real Himalayan views before you touch down in the quiet Paro Valley. Once you’ve cleared arrivals, you set off on the scenic drive toward Thimphu, passing forested mountains, traditional villages, and the Pa Chhu River winding alongside the road. In Thimphu, stop at the Buddha Dordenma Statue for sweeping views over the valley, then visit Memorial Chorten before checking into your hotel for a relaxed evening.
Day 02 :
Thimphu – Punakha (1,310 m)
After breakfast, leave Thimphu behind and head toward Punakha. The drive takes you through winding mountain roads and dense pine forests to Dochula Pass, at roughly 3,140 meters, where you can admire the 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens and, on a clear day, enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan range. From there, you descend through rhododendron, magnolia, and pine forest as the air warms and the landscape turns green. In Punakha, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Explore it with your guide, then settle into your hotel for the evening.
Day 03 :
Punakha – Gangtey (2,320 m)
Today you leave Punakha and travel toward Gangtey, enjoying changing mountain scenery, pine forests, traditional villages, and farmland along the way. As you reach the peaceful Phobjikha Valley, visit Gangtey Monastery, an important center of the Nyingma Buddhist tradition. Learn about its history, architecture, and spiritual significance with your guide. Explore nearby villages, wetlands, and walking trails while experiencing traditional rural Bhutanese life. From October to March, you may also see endangered black-necked cranes that winter in the valley. If your visit coincides with a local festival, experience traditional dances, music, rituals, and celebrations while surrounded by Gangtey’s beautiful mountain landscape.
Day 04 :
Gangtey – Thimphu (2,350 m)
After breakfast, you start the drive back toward Thimphu, retracing the road through pine forests and small mountain settlements, with the scenery shifting again as you descend. Your guide can arrange scenic photo stops, short walks, or visits to charming villages along the way, depending on your interests and available time. Once you return to Thimphu, you can spend the rest of the day as you wish. Visit Tashichho Dzong, an impressive fortress that continues to serve as a center of Bhutan’s government and religious life. Spend the evening exploring the capital before returning to your hotel for a comfortable night.
Day 05 :
Thimphu – Haa – Paro (2,250 m)
Today, leave Thimphu and drive toward Chele La Pass, one of Bhutan’s highest motorable passes. At the pass, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and, on a clear day, take in the spectacular Himalayan scenery. From Chele La, descend into Haa Valley, a peaceful and less-visited part of Bhutan known for forested hills, traditional farmhouses, and rural landscapes. Take time to explore the valley, enjoy the scenery, and learn about local life with your guide. In the afternoon, continue to Paro and check into your hotel. Enjoy a relaxed evening in Paro before tomorrow’s hike to Tiger’s Nest.
Day 06 :
Paro – Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) (3,120 m)
Today brings one of the most memorable experiences of your Bhutan journey: the hike to Tiger’s Nest. After breakfast, head to the trailhead and begin the hike through fragrant pine forests, gradually climbing above the Paro Valley. Walk at your pace and stop at viewpoints along the trail to see the monastery perched on the cliffside. Your guide will explain the site’s history and its connection to Guru Padmasambhava, an important figure in Bhutanese Buddhist tradition. After completing the hike, enjoy a well-earned meal and spend your final evening in Paro relaxing.
Day 07 :
Paro – Departure
Depending on your departure time and the distance of your flight, you may have a few hours to explore the city or surrounding area, browse local handicraft shops, or pick up souvenirs. Your driver and guide will make sure you reach the airport in good time for your flight. As your aircraft lifts off the runway, take a moment to take in the scenery of Bhutan and the beautiful mountainous landscape of the Paro Valley before you leave this unique country and its people.

Best Time for the 7-Day Luxury Bhutan Tour Itinerary
The best times for a 7-day Bhutan luxury tour are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November); these are the strongest windows, with excellent weather, clear skies, and solid conditions for hiking and sightseeing. Spring brings mild temperatures and blooming rhododendrons; autumn generally offers some of the clearest Himalayan views of the year. Winter works well if you don’t mind the cold and want a quieter trip. Summer brings the monsoon, so mountain views get less predictable, but the valleys turn properly green and crowds thin out.

Experiencing Bhutan and it’s people and it’s culture and tradtions is a beautiful travel experience in itself. It’s a magical journey into the land high up in the Himalayas. We were lucky that we found this company ‘Happiness Drukyul Holidays’ who were completely flexible, professional and up to the mark. Mr. Sonan, our guide did his job well and introduce to Bhutan’s unique culture and traditions. We learnt more of Buddhism from him. Highly recommended & thank you for this beautiful holiday experience.
